How does it feel: procrastination versus accomplishment?
I heard somewhere that “perfectionism is the birth parent of procrastination” and that has stuck with me ever since. Accomplishment starts with availability and action. God uses imperfections to accomplish His will. He didn’t use great kings to feed the masses. Christ used a few small fish that were available to feed thousands- they were small, not prized catches prepared by A Master Chef, to satisfy feeding the excessive crowds. There were no buffet lines or fancy table settings. He accomplished greatness and glorifying God by using that which was available, and allowing God to move and use it for His glory. He made the imperfect, perfect.
I challenge you:
to start today and allow God to move within it.
To make the snowball effect- get the ball rolling Where it grows and gains momentum.
There’s a parable of talents, adding to this Concept: It never grows out of fear of the unknown or stagnation, fear of messing up or that it won’t be perfect.
What if…
What if I fail…
What if it looks stupid…
I can’t…
First, we must… Truth is First. We must be open to truth. God can- if it is His will.
procrastination eats at Our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls… A burden.
Accomplishment brings joy, closure, peace. A weight lifted! think of Christ weight of the cross that was carried. It was heavy, burdensome and Torturous but in the end it was glorious and he accomplished what he set out to do!
There’s a call to action: a cleaning out of a closet, Perhaps literally of clothes and unused junk. or Maybe it’s figuratively, of all the skeletons of oppression and burdens you have been carrying.
Baby steps are still steps in the right direction, which is forward…
You are a strong, intelligent, and independent individual who has been through a difficult season. It’s essential to remember- it was a season, and seasons change.
Yes, you have passed through some cold and dark days, but the time has come for rebirth, rebuilding, and renewal!
You weren’t made to remain stuck or stagnant. You were made to shine, bloom, and soar! However you want to Identity it- you were created by an awesome God- with purpose and intent! He is doing something awesome within you and taking you on a new journey filled with adventure and self-discovery, to experience your next chapter in your life’s journey!
No epic story is without its peaks and valleys. Overcoming obstacles is what gives us a sense of accomplishment, developing and refining our capacity to reach new heights. How boring The Lord of the Rings would have been had the hobbits not left the Shire and faced the obstacles of Middle Earth….
What would have become of Dorothy had she not embarked on her journey to Oz? One of my favorite movies as a child was The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland. I will never forget the feeling of excitement and anticipation I feel when I watch her ruby slippers take those first few steps on the Yellow Brick Road. This was following an altercation with the Wicked Witch and at the advice of Glinda who said, “It’s always best to start at the beginning.” It’s true. Sometimes when we are faced with trials and tribulations, we must take a few steps back and start at the beginning, but we also have to take those first steps in doing something- no matter how uncertain the future may seem.
Sometimes getting started is the easiest part of the journey. Then when you come to the messy middle, and you hit that wall because of sickness or because of lack of energy, lack of motivation coming up against adversity, etc. That is when the real Challenge begins… but if you continue to push through, you will achieve your goal, And it will build a snowball effect building your confidence giving you The satisfaction of accomplishment!
What is something that you are wanting to accomplish, but you’ve been putting off?
What are some steps that you could take starting today to reach those goals?
Give yourself a deadline to work towards. This will create an urgency and increase your productivity.
When do you want to accomplish that Goal You’ve been putting off?
When We write down Our Goals, they aren’t just dreams or wishes anymore. They become set commitments, with a timeline. The Bible encourages us to write down the goals that God has laid on our hearts….
“Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” (Habakkuk 2:2 NIV)
